Hello Everybody!
It's been a great week being a part of some
biometric screenings! I've been able to
meet some pretty amazing people, while also enjoying the beautiful sights of the
San Rafael Swell. I enjoy participating
in the screenings, not only to know more about our participants, but also to
help them KNOW more about themselves. I like the saying "ignorance is
bliss," and in this situation I strongly believe in "ignorance is
bliss, UNTIL you are lying in a hospital bed." What does that mean?, you ask. Well, you can go on living your life never
having anything checked, until one day you are lying on a hospital bed hooked
up to a heart monitor... OR you can check on how you are doing NOW to prevent
ever being in that situation. Ignorance
could very well require a very hefty bill.
"I have never had my blood sugar checked
before-", “I don't even know what my cholesterol is-" and "After
this screen last year, I went to my doctor and found out I had..." These are just a few of the comments we hear
during our brief screening process. Many of our participants love the fact that
this important information is available on the spot with just a ten minute
visit, and can be sent to them electronically within one to two days. This is possible due to EMI Health’s new
health "report cards". Our participants have vital information
regarding their current health, enabling them to work WITH their doctor to see
where further improvements can be made in their overall health and well being!
Our screenings include: cholesterols levels,
glucose levels (diabetes risk), blood pressure, and body composition. Through a small finger stick, we are able to
provide people with important information in four key areas regarding their
health, and take a general look at their overall wellness. Those participating now have the knowledge
and power to take control of their health and improve in those areas that need
attention. Hearing the sentiments-
"This is good to know-," and "What can I do to improve this-"
are what makes my job as fulfilling and enjoyable as it is! I love seeing people take charge of their
healthcare!
